THANK YOU to all who joined us for an evening of entertainment, food, vendors, and much more featuring your community leaders, police department, and firefighters.

The Rally is a free community event supported by the generosity of sponsors. Donations toward the reconstruction project are welcome.

In conjunction with National Night Out, this event is a community rally honoring the legacy of Dr. James Lee Dickey, African American physician, humanitarian, civil rights advocate, and concerned citizen.  Participants will stand in solidarity in tribute to Dr. Dickey’s advocacy for community development as well as community health. Dickey House was burned to the ground by an arsonist on July 10, 2022.

About the Dickey Museum

The Dickey Museum & Multipurpose Center will operate as a resource center, connecting underserved community members with opportunities to advance their health and well-being in a setting that speaks to Dr. Dickey’s enduring legacy when restored.  The location of the Dickey Museum is key to connecting to the community.  According to the 2019 Williamson County Community Health Assessment, the census tracts in Taylor tend to have higher than average health risks and socio-economic burdens. For that reason, Taylor is identified as a “Health Equity Zone.” The Dickey Museum & Multipurpose Center is in the heart of Taylor’s Health Equity Zone.

Community leaders have worked for 25 years to preserve “Dickey House,” and to preserve Dr. Dickey’s commitment to educating and engaging community members, improving health outcomes, and promoting peace of mind through meditation.  We seek your assistance as a sponsor in support of this community event.
